ChingChi
Third/Fourth Grade Teacher

Hi, My name is ChingChi. I currently teach third and fourth grade and Mandarin Chinese at The Children’s Hour Academy. I really enjoy working with children and I appreciate that each child has a unique personality and learning style. I believe that children will learn best through hands-on activities based on a developmentally appropriate program. I love to see children smile and I like to listen to each one of the children’s needs. I believe teachers play an important role in children’s lives. With encouragement and inspiration they can have a great impact on our future generation.
I dreamed about being a teacher when I was a little girl. I received my B.A degree and completed the program worked in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching from the University of Oregon. I received my master’s degree in Education at Portland State University. I have experience working with kindergarten and school-aged children both in the states and in my country, Taiwan. I feel blessed to have this opportunity to work with the children here and I consider it a privilege to be able to teach not only the technical part of the curriculum, but more importantly, help develop cultural and moral values at school. As an educator born and raised out of the country, I hope and truly believe that I can bring a unique and different perspective that will be refreshing and valuable to every child at our school.
When I’m not at school I like to do artwork around my house. I enjoy cooking, shopping, watching movies and reading. Due to the diverse background, I also like to introduce cultural events and languages to people I encounter. Of course, I really enjoy working with children and the staff at our school. The hugs and warm greetings that they gave to me every morning makes my days.
