Sally Jo
Pre-Kindergarten
Hi! My name is Ms. Sally Jo and I teach Pre-Kindergarten at the Children’s Hour Academy. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Oregon State University, and a Master’s of Arts in Teaching Degree from George Fox University where I graduated in May 2004. I have a passion for teaching young children and watching them grow and develop into the person that God made them to be.
My classroom is decorated intentionally to be an inviting and fun place to learn. I also try to make my classroom a caring, positive environment where the children are nurtured and encouraged to be independent. There is a lot of attention and enthusiasm given to each child. As a teacher, it is important for me to be available and aware of each child’s personal needs. I also try to find ways that I can learn from them, as well as what they can learn from me.
In order to give each child what they need, it is important for me to have frequent and consistent communication with parents. I send home a daily sheet every day to let parents know about their child’s day at school. I also am sure to connect with parents face-to-face at least once a day at drop-off or pick-up times.
I love it when my students come up to me and say, “I did it Sally Jo!” It is encouraging and rewarding for me when they learn new things and to know that I had a part in their learning. In my eyes, the Children’s Hour Academy offers this positive learning environment for all children.
